20-0 Cowboys cap off perfect season

Coming into the Super Bowl there were two big storylines forming before the game. First was the repeat of the Brother Bowl, this time with Stefon Diggs and Trevon Diggs repeating what the Kelce brothers did in 2023. However the main attraction around this game was the finish of the perfect season for the Cowboys. No team has achieved this feat since 1967, when the Miami Dolphins did not lose any game all season. The most recent year this was nearly accomplished was in 2007, when the 18-0 Patriots were heavy favorites going into the Super Bowl against the underdog New York Giants. The Patriots would fall to the Giants in what was considered one of the greatest Super Bowl games of all time.

The start of this Super Bowl looked like it might end up with the same fate, with the heavily favored 19-0 Cowboys going down 14-0 to start the game, and with the underdog Buffalo Bills getting the ball to start the half, history looked to repeat itself. Dak Prescott responded by connecting with Star Rookie TE Ja’Tavion Sanders for a 75 yard TD to calm the storm and after this play the Cowboys woke up. Not wanting to end up on the wrong side of history, the Cowboys showed resilience that only a Super Bowl champion could achieve. A massive punt and stop by the Dallas defense pinned the Bills back in their own end zone with a punt looming, With the Bills up 21-14 just before half, little brother Trevon Diggs showed the world who the best Diggs brother is, running around the edge the block the punt with Super Bowl MVP Malik Harrison diving on the ball for the TD. After that play, you could see the energy leave the Bills players and coaches, and on the next 2 drives they were stopped. The Cowboys capitalised, bringing the score to 30-21. From that point on, Dallas never looked back.

Dak Prescott only threw 6 interceptions all regular season, but coming into the Super Bowl he had thrown 3 in 2 games. His playoff picks did not change, as he threw 2 interceptions in the big game. All season Dak was seen as a game manager, a big reason why people downplayed his high TD-INT ratio during the season, but when the Cowboys needed him to air it out, he delivered, throwing for 347 yards and 4 TDs, which helped to offset his interception issue. Even though the offense flowed through Dak this game, the workhorse of the offense Tony Pollard still finished with 122 total yards on 16 touches.

Earlier in the season their was discussion about the Cowboys defense potentially being the greatest defense of all time, but this Super Bowl showed that while the defense is elite, it has holes that were exposed during the game.

The defense had many ups and downs during the game, as they forced 4 turnovers and sacked Josh Allen 5 times. Even with these great counting stats, the defense still allowed 35 points, with Josh Allen finishing with 269 yards and 4 TDs, and most impressively leading his team in rushing as well, with 45 yards and a TD.

At the end of it all, the Dallas Cowboys achieved history this season, and finished it off with a victory in arguably the greatest Super Bowl game of all time. Your Super Bowl LIX champs, the Dallas Cowboys.
