Let’s get it out of the way. The 49ers got embarrassed last week. No sugarcoating. It was flat-out embarrassing. There were no positives in that game. Actually, there was. Humility. The 49ers were humbled last week. And I mean this in the best way possible, they needed that.

Last season, the 49ers exceeded expectations and made it all the way to the NFC Championship game before falling to the Panthers. This season, I’m sure most expected the 49ers to make some noise again this year. They got that taste of almost making it to the Super Bowl, and there is no doubt in my mind that they will be back in the NFC Championship game this season. But there is a lot of season to go. And in a season, a championship team must practice good habits. They must take every snap seriously. Every read. Every practice. Every team. Every game. Every down. Every second. This is no exaggeration. To be a champion, there is a ton of sacrifice.

And last week, the 49ers learned that there are levels to this. And as of right now, they are not on that level. But guess what, it is only week 3. If they work hard like I know they will, they will be on that level. My bold take for this season is that the 49ers will be in the Super Bowl. I truly believe that. And I’m so glad they had this type of loss early in the season. Like the Head Coach said, they must go heal their wounds from that beatdown. And once they do, they must ask themselves how that happened. And trust, after they learn their lesson, they will be handing out beatdowns of their own. Go 9ers.
