The first overall pick in this years draft did not wait long to get his first NFL win. The Bears beat the Lions at home with a final score of 16-13. Shedeur Sanders can now say that he has won an NFL football game, and to some this might be something simple, but to Shedeur you can see that this means everything. Growing up as Neon Deion’s son was no easy task for Shedeur. When you are the son of one of the greatest athletes of all time the expectations are through the roof, but Shedeur did not collapse under the weight of these expectations. He did it he made it to the NFL and has now won a game. While it may not have been pretty for Shedeur, finishing with 200 yards and 3 interceptions to his 1 touchdown, he got the job done at the end of the day. Growing pains were expected and they have been there, but his confidence has not wavered. Shedeur has stood tall in the pocket and delivered passes with the confidence that he can make every throw, and while that has gotten him in trouble on occasion, it is a good sign for the young quarter back to not be scared to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball down the field.
Shedeur was impressive in one way that the naked eye would not see looking at his stats. He had six different receivers have a catch in their game against the Lions. This is a promising thing to see in young quarter backs, because young quarter backs in the NFL can have a tendency to zero in on one receiver and only trust him. Once again Cam Akers was his favorite target, and props to Coach Prime for his play calling. Deion drew up a lot of passes to the running back, this proved to be great for his son as he was able to get rid of the ball quick, and it added an extra wrinkle to the offense as an extension of the run game. Coach Prime has leaned on Cam Akers early this season, which has proven to be a good thing, it is never bad to use an elite running back when you have one. Deion Jr. also got on the stat sheet with four total tackles. The Sanders family can have some steak dinner tonight and sleep well knowing they got the monkey off their back by getting their first win in the NFL.
