With the reopening of the deadline the Vikings listed Jordan Addison as a trade target. Miami called and the Vikings answered. The final trade was the Vikings give Jordan Addison and in return get Channing Tindall and a second round pick from the Dolphins.

What this means for Miami:

The Miami Dolphins get a young star receiver to add to their aging receiver room. Addison has kind of taken a back seat to Justin Jefferson and Tetairoa McMillian in Minnesota, but he is still one of the best young receivers in the league, and with a bigger role he could turn into one of the best young receivers in the league. Addison has a fifth year option that the Dolphins in all likelihood will accept to keep the guy they just traded for, and then look to extend him next year. The Dolphins gave up a second rounder and Channing Tindall. The second rounder is very early with how the Dolphins record looks this year, almost acting as a late first rounder. The Dolphins also gave up Tindall who is going to be a free agent after this season unless the Vikings choose to extend him, but Tindall had a minimal role for the Dolphins and was not playing very much so moving him was not a did not hurt the defense too much.

What this means for Minnesota:

The Vikings acquired Channing Tindall which filled a role at linebacker where aging Deion Jones was playing. “Tindall provides us a little bit more size and speed at the linebacker position which is something I felt that we needed, Deion’s role will be minimized a little bit, but he is a savvy vet that is good to have for our two young linebackers that we plan to move forward with,” said the Vikings coach. The Vikings have two elite receivers and Addison was starting to slowly be phased out of the offense, so moving him before having to make a decision on whether to sign him long term. The Vikings also picked up a early second round pick that will basically end up being a late first depending on how the Dolphins finish their season.
