The Eagles may be the biggest Wildcard between playoff teams in both the AFC and NFC. At their best, dare I say, they can beat any team in the NFC. But at their worst, this team can lose to any team in the league. The consistent inconsistencies from this team make me wonder who exactly they are. Are they contenders? Are they pretenders? I’ll let you know why this is such a hard question to answer. Check this out:

The Eagles entered the season beating the New York Giants. A great win against a divisional team. In their next game, against the Commanders, they would lose to another divisional rival in the Commanders 24-10. After that, they beat the Falcons 35-17. Then the Packers 29-28. So a (3-1) start. Not bad. They would then lose to the Giants 49-14. A bad loss but at least they split the season series against them. (3-2) They would then travel to Los Angeles where they would take their anger out on the Chargers, winning 31-17. (4-2) Now for the game that really caught my eye. The Eagles hosted the Vikings at home. It was a close game until the 2nd half when the Eagles would start to pull away, winning 41-22. The win over the Vikings is the reason that I say that at their best, this Eagles team is a true threat. (5-2)

But then here is where my concern started. Week 8 against the Dolphins. I’m not sure if the Eagles players felt they could look past the Dolphins after beating one of the best teams in the NFC, but in this game, they just didn’t show up. They would let this game slip away losing 21-14. The Dolphins are clearly in a rebuild so losing to a team like this makes me scratch my head. (5-3) The following week, they would lose again. This time to the Detroit Lions 8-21. The Lions are not a bad team, but they are not a playoff team. (5-4) However, the Eagles have won their last two games against the Raiders and Cowboys. (7-4)

The Eagles sit at a (7-4) record. But other than their win against the Vikings, I have not been blown away by their performances. Fortunately for the Eagles, their job is not to impress me. Their job is to win. And they have done that so far. All I’m saying is I don’t know exactly who they are. Time will tell though. Go Eagles!
