After the Packers resigned Christian Watson, Jordan Love entering Free Agency seemed like a guarantee. However, the Packers did entertain franchise tagging him but ultimately decided not to. Instead, they would select Malachi Nelson with their 16th pick in the first round. And man, what a great decision.

Jordan Love decided to sign with the Bucs. In his first game with the Bucs, he threw 6 interceptions. Ouch. For the type of money he was asking for and his performance so far, the Packers dodged a bullet. It is only week one, and I expect him to play better, but what the Packers got instead looks to be much better.

Malachi Nelson is looking like the best quarterback in the draft. He is yet to throw an interception and has led the Packers to a 2-0 start. He has thrown for 685 yards with 7 touchdowns. It is way too early to say but I’m going to say it. Nelson may have a better career than Arch Manning. He is in the right system that will not hinder his growth and he is playing great football himself.

How far can this rookie quarterback take them? Well, let’s remember he is not alone. The Packers were not a lottery team. In fact, they would make the Divisional Round in the playoffs. When talking about a team with a top-3 pick, then we are talking about a team that needs a lot of help. The Packers, however, already have some great pieces. So I see Nelson leading this Packers team to the NFC Championship game. And if you are keeping up with my predictions, that would mean we would be getting the 49ers vs Packers matchup that we wanted last season. Go Packers!
