After a tough loss to the Titans, the Bengals knew that they needed another piece to have a chance to put an end to the Titans. The Bengals’ secondary is the 2nd best in my eyes, and even though their defensive line has done a better job generating pressure, the Bengals were missing a true playmaker on that defensive line.
Meanwhile, the Chargers are currently in a rebuild and were looking to ship their older guys for either draft picks or young promising players. The Bengals would deliver on the Chargers’ wish by giving two picks (2027 1st-round and 2027 4th-round).
Let’s be honest: Bosa is not in his prime. But he still is a game-changer. We have seen it before. Players a little past their prime going out to chase a ring. Look at Aaron Donald. Although he already had a ring with the Rams, he would use his last couple of years to join the Titans. Or Khalil Mack. Although it didn’t work out, he would try to ring chase with the Colts.
The NFL is a business. Obviously, Bosa is not in the long-term plans, but he can truly take this team to another level right now. This defense has been top-5 all year long. And now that they will be able to get immediate pressure, it will put this defense as the 2nd best in my eyes. You can’t run on them and you can’t pass on them at all.
But will this be enough to beat the Titans? I mean we all know why this move was made. I truly think so. Time will tell, but for now, Bengals fans have another reason to have hope. Go Bengals!
