Following a season where the Saints would shock the league by making the NFC Championship game, the Saints are 5-4 and currently sit just out of the playoffs. The NFC has never been better and that may mean that the Saint may go from the NFC Championship game to not making the playoffs. I would say that the Saints are not making the playoffs but I learned my lesson. I will never count this team out again.
So what is causing this up-and-down year for the Saints? Is there a reason to be concerned? I don’t think so. When you look at their four losses, they all come against legit top talent. Bengals (7-1), Panthers (7-2), Ravens (6-3), and Packers (6-2). This team has won all the games you expect them to win and even have an impressive win over the Chiefs. And by the way, those losses have been very close games. Most were a play away from the result being in favor of the Saints.
Looking at their schedule it won’t be easy at all to squeeze into the playoffs. They go up against the Vikings, 49ers, Browns, Commanders, Lions, Panthers, and Bears. By the way the NFC is looking in terms of standings, 7 losses may be the most a team can have to get in. That would mean that the Saints will have to win 5 of their last 8 games. I truly believe that it is possible. Maybe I’m biased due to their impressive run last year. Either way, I think it is possible if the Saints don’t look past any of their opponents. If they can take it one week at a time, they will get in and possibly shock the world in the playoffs once again. Go Saints!
