Surprisingly, the Giants would draft Jalen Milroe over Drew Allar with the 4th overall pick. Coach Isaiah would later say that Milroe fit the new scheme that the Giants were set to use. So far, Milroe looks like the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft, and the Giants look like they will be a true test for any team this season.

In week 1, the Giants would host the Commanders at home. In the back-and-forth game, it was Milroe and Barkley who stood out. With Milroe always being a threat to run, Barkley’s job was made easier. The unique offense was too much for the Commanders. Milroe would go 15/16 for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Barkley would go for 89 yards on ten attempts. Malik Nabers would get seven catches for 95 yards. Defensively, the Giants would struggle against the run in the first half. In the second half, they would lock down the run game, forcing Sam Howell to beat them. Unfortunately for the Commanders, Howell did not have the best game. Giants would win this one 28-21.

As mentioned before, Coach Isaiah plans to run a unique offense this season. A part of that unique offense is having two great runningbacks next to Milroe. The Giants already had Barkley, but wanted to get another elite runningback. The Giants would get that from the Raiders in Josh Jacobs. The Giants would send this year’s 1st-round and 2nd-round and next year’s second-round for Jacobs. Jacobs would fly to New York just in time to suit up against the defending champions, Dallas Cowboys.
And wow! The Giants would shock the league in a matchup between the Giants and Cowboys. Coach Banky and Coach Isaiah have a long history, but their meetings almost always ended in Coach Banky’s favor. But tonight, the Giants were on a whole ‘nother level. Their defense did a tremendous job of slowing down the Cowboys. Dak Prescott would only throw six interceptions last season. Tonight, the Giants would force him to throw four. Wow! The Giants would get three sacks on the day, with two being from Isaiah Simmons.

The Giants performed their offense flawlessly, with Jacobs and Barkley in the backfield and Milroe being a threat to run. Milroe would throw for three touchdowns with 0 interceptions. Barkley would rush for 127 yards on 19 attempts and a touchdown. And although Jacobs did not have a big day stat-wise, he was a big part of the win. Just having a guy like that out there is enough. Coach Isaiah said that Jacobs will be more involved as he learns the plays. Nonetheless, the Giants would win 45-27. And following the win, players and coaches were ecstatic. It is clear that this win showed them that they have enough to win the whole thing this season. Go Giants!
