After years of choking in the playoffs. After years of being called the “little bro” of Coach Banky. After being named a quitter. After being called a runner. After getting trash-talked by Coach Mari, the Dolphins Head Coach, before the Super Bowl game. After losing season 3 in the Wildcard Round to the Chargers. After losing in the AFC championship to Coach Banky in back-to-back years. After choking in the playoffs against the Bills and retiring. After all that, Coach Isaiah has finished the story! You can call him whatever you want, but make sure you add CHAMPION.
The Giants were on another level this season, going 20-0, making it two perfect seasons in a row in this OGCFM era (the Cowboys went 20-0 last season). Jalen Milroe, the 4th overall pick, looked like an MVP candidate. Saquan Barkley did an even better job on the ground. But it was the Giants’ defense that truly carried this team, allowing the fewest amount of points. A huge part of that was the addition of Nick Bolton, who joined in a massive trade with the Chiefs.
But no matter how great of a season Coach Isaiah would have in previous years, there was always someone who would get the best of him. Coach Banky. But this season was much different as the Giants would sweep them 2-0 in the regular season and beat them in the Divisional Round. “Little bro” finally got the best of “Big bro.” In the NFC Championship game, Coach Isaiah would go up against his great friend Coach Jayforeign. Both the Giants’ explosive offense and defense showed up in this game. The Giants would force three turnovers and score 28 points in the 3rd quarter to take the game over the Saints.
And the stage was set. Dolphins vs Giants for the Season 8 Super Bowl Trophy. Two Head Coaches who have an intense rivalry. Coach Mari would even show up to pre-game press conferences with a message that he was not worried. Even going as far as saying his dog was humping a pillow with a Giants jersey. He even said that his team beat a previously coached Jags team, which he claimed led to Coach Isaiah “running.” But from the start of the game, it was clear it would take more work than he thought. Jalen Milroe would start the game throwing dots, but after the first possession, it was the Milroe-Barkley running show. The Dolphins struggled against the run, so that became the Giants offense. Controlling the clock and running the football would lead to their Super Bowl victory 28-24!
Coach Isaiah said this after the game, “This is for all the doubters. All those who gave up on me. All those who called me a quitter. A runner. This is for them. But also for those who never lost hope. Those who continued to believe and show support. I’m a champion, baby! And just like Cody did at WrestleMania, I have FINISHED THE STORY.”
