The Titans fans were excited to see how this team would do when they were going to play their home opener against the Jets with a fully healthy Aaron Rodgers, the seats got packed with the anticipation that this game would be good between the two AFC teams. Sometimes, reality can be cruel and crush the hopes of those who believe in their team, the game looked horrendous on the Titans side with The Jets playing like they want a playoff spot and the Titans played like they are rebuilding, the fans of the team were disappointed on the performance that they watched this Sunday.
The sophemore slump that most Qbs deal with was apparent in this one with how Will Levis was not hitting his targets, he was overthrowing and underthrowing his receivers which most of the time resulted in a pick, 5 all throughout the game. Will only looked okay in the 4th and horrendous the rest. He was not getting help in this one either with his offensive line allowing 3 sacks and him getting pressured on most of his passes. His run game was non existent with Tony Pollard only getting 15 yds on 7 carries. The Receivers were the only bright spot on offense, they were trying their hardest to keep the game close with miraculous catches and hard fought Yac, it wasn’t enough though. Three of the picks that Levis threw were demoralizing, getting returned for tds to the Jets. 1 was just before half when the team was down just 6 and could have gotten a td to take the lead before half, that p6 led to the team just fizzling out and not making any effort to get back into it after the halftime break.
Defensively, the team got destroyed in the rushing game, giving up 153 yds on the ground, the defensive line couldn’t get any sort of penetration against a good Offensive line and their Rbs were able to make great moves in the open field to rack up the yds and points. The team was able to get a ff from Ernest Jones but weren’t able to grab it when there was so many Titans in the area, that gave them a free 7 points when the defense could have got off the field. The only bright spot on the defense in this game was Harold Landry, he got 2 tfls and the only pick for the team. To make matters worse, the veteran Nick Folk missed a fg when the team could had scored a td the play before.
The team is glad that it only counts as one loss and are looking to forget that game and bounce back next week at home against the currently 0-1 Packers.
