“Maybe this year.”
Many fanbases dream of a championship at the beginning of the season. Some are just trying to convince themselves even though deep down they know they don’t have enough. But some fanbases realize that they have more than enough and could get the job done. Even more, some fanbases realize that they have had enough FOR YEARS. A team that has all the tools, yet falls short year after year. One of the teams that comes to mind is the San Fransico 49ers.
The 49ers have been Super Bowl Contenders since 2019. In those five years, they have made the NFC championship game twice and the Super Bowl twice. And considering you are reading this article, you know they did not win once. What’s the issue? They have had a great defense. They have had a respectable offense. A top head coach. Are they cursed?
Of course not, but I do wonder how much longer they have to get the job done. Brandon Aiyuk just got paid like a top wide receiver. Many are still on the fence about Brock Purdy. Mahomes, Lamar, and Allen are still in the league. McCaffrey’s injuries are starting to pile up. And Trent Williams is 36.
Coach BadGuy has been given the keys to the 49ers. The pressure will be on him to do what hasn’t been done since 1995. Can he do it? Time will tell…but time is ticking.
