The year was 2021. And word around the world was that a generational Quarterback was coming to the NFL. The Clemson standout hype was real. All eyes were on Trevor Lawrence. And it was much awe in their eyes…until it was time to play football. The awe became confusion. This is the guy who got all the hype?
Let’s be honest: Trevor has not lived up to the hype. And some have given him excuses. Terrible coach. No receivers. No help. But at some point, we have to look at him. He has not performed in a “generational” way. Don’t get me wrong, he has had good moments. But he has had some really bad moments. Maybe it’s our fault. Maybe we deserve the blame. We are the ones who said he was generational.
Do I believe in Trevor? Personally, I need to see something this year. I need to see a breakout season from him. I need to see him lead this Jags team to a deep playoff run. An MVP candidate. Until then, I’m out. Make us a believer Trevor.
