This is the one we all want to see. The 11-6 Saints will host the 12-5 Rams at home. Both are great teams with great coaches, and both have a real shot at going all the way. These two met this season in a great back-and-forth game that saw the Rams win. Coach Sasuke of the Saints has talked a bunch of trash ahead of this matchup. He claimed the NFC runs through him and that no team wants to play them. At 10 PM, he will have the opportunity to look like a genius…or look like a fool.
Derek Carr has been suspended due to violating the NFL Gambling Policy. He has been suspended not just for this game, but for the entire playoffs granted the Saints go further. Whether it is PJ Walker or rookie Spencer Rattler starting, the Saints will struggle to make up for Carr’s absence. Or will they? The Saints have great receivers, Alvin Kamara, and a talented Offensive Line. And considering they have one of the best defenses in the league, the QB1 may not be asked to do too much.
On the other side is a team with the exact opposite situation. The Rams defense is one of the worst in the league, but their offense is one of the best. That’s been the story for many teams in the playoffs. But for the Rams, they come into the playoffs with a huge win. In week 18, they defeated the 16-1 Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks look like the best overall team in the league, and the Rams being the only team to beat them speaks volumes. A win against the Saints and the world will get to see a rematch.
My Prediction: Rams win 42-27
This game will be close until the 2nd half. It will be like their first matchup until the Saints QB1 (either Rattler or Walker) makes a costly mistake. This Rams team is not a team that you want to give the ball. As stated before, they have one of the best offenses. For the Saints, the defense will have to get multiple stops to win, and I don’t see that happening.
Tune in at 10 PM to see the final game from the Wildcard Round
