The Chargers made some serious waves this offseason, fortifying their secondary with the acquisitions of Trevon Moehrig and Rasul Douglas. Moehrig’s versatility and ability to cover ground in the deep middle pairs perfectly with Douglas’ knack for creating turnovers and shutting down key matchups. Together, they bring a new level of playmaking and stability to the back end of the defense, transforming a once-vulnerable unit into one that could give opposing quarterbacks nightmares. Offensively, the Chargers weren’t shy about upgrading their skill positions either, landing seasoned veterans like Alvin Kamara and Mike Gesicki. Kamara’s dynamic dual-threat abilities out of the backfield add an explosive element to the offense as he will complement J.K. Dobbins, while Gesicki provides a reliable red-zone target and a matchup problem for defenders. However, the departure of Khalil Mack in free agency leaves a significant gap in the pass rush. As a result, the Chargers could very well target a defensive lineman in the draft to reinforce the trenches. With these moves, the team is shaping up to be a balanced contender ready to make a deep postseason run.
