The Chicago Bears made a splash in the offseason by promoting their head coach Chris Outlawz as the team’s General Manager & Owner as the McCaskey family sold the franchise for an undisclosed amount. The first order of business was to get the Bears a new stadium that will be unveiled this season. Rumors had the Bears organization looking to build a dome stadium, but GM Outlawz said Chicago is built for the nasty weather, and that’s how chicagoans love to watch football. The second order of the new ownership was to bring in a coach that almost had the job at the start of last season, but decided to stay in Detroit to try and win a ring. After a disappointing season, the Bears GM reached out to Ben Johnson to gauge the interest level in becoming a head coach in the NFL. Ben loved the teams direction on last years draft, and wanted to improve the team’s chances this season with an explosive firepower with now second year quarterback Caleb Williams. The two have been hand in hand along with offensive coordinator Thomas Brown. The sky is the limit for these two as they both focus on winning the turnover battle. On the defensive side GM Outlawz reached out to Robert Saleh after being let go from the Jets, and he loved the play style of this Bears defense. He was enthusiastic about the Bears draft capital, and wanted to see what he could build in Chicago. With that the Bears war room decided to go Corner Back on the 1st round 19th overall taking Benjamin Morrison to help solidify the 1 & 2 slot with Johnson & Morrison leaving Stevenson as the nickel back. In the second round the Bears were given two picks taking LOLB Barrett Carter with the 5th pick in the second, and taking an OL Jonah Savaiinaea with the 19th pick in the second round. Bolstering the offensive line for Caleb to be able to have more time in the pocket. Overall the Bears first 5 picks taken were thought of as day 1 starters, but we will see what training camp brings these rookies. In the off-season, the Bears were not active at all until day 3 when they saw Stefon Diggs now 31 years old showing high interest in joining the Bears organization. General Manager Outlawz pounced on the opportunity to have a veteran come in and play the slot as they continue to develop Tyler Scott to take that roll. Bears also signed Quinton Bohanna for depth purposes in the offseason. Things are looking bright for the Bears, but the division rivals all had a great offseason as a whole so this should make for an interesting battle for the division.
