Last year, the Browns started off slow and made a miracle run to the playoffs. This year, they have started off slow, but this time, there looks to be no hope for them. Just like in 2016, Browns fans are showing up to the games with bags over their heads.

The Browns had one of the best offenses to end last year. Malik Willis looked like he was a steal for the Browns who got Willis last year in a trade with the Titans. This year, although he has the stats, he cannot take care of the football. He has already thrown 14 interceptions on the year. In clutch time, he has been a shell of the quarterback we saw last year, and it has led to some close losses.

But it obviously is not all on Willis. The Browns defense are 28th in defense. They are giving up 34 points a game! I don’t care if you have Mahomes. I don’t care if Brady came out of retirement. You will struggle to win football games while your defense is giving up more points than most offenses score!

This is the worst-case scenario for the Browns or is it? They are in what some would call the toughest division in the NFL. The Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens are heads above the Browns, so the chances of the Browns making the playoffs are very narrow. So in that case, the Browns losing may be best for the future of this franchise. This year they can focus on developing their guys. For example, Anthony Schwartz has really become a superstar receiver. They can also use this season to get rid of some talent for some picks and maybe younger talent. This season was not what I expected from the Browns, but I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
