Can we all agree that was the Game Of The Year?
Coach Lion and the Chiefs came into the game 0-2 against the Raiders. Both games were blowouts. But that was the past and we had a different Chiefs team. A different beast. From the start of the game to the very end, it was an all-out war. It felt like watching a game of ping pong. Raiders made a big play. Chiefs made a big play. Raiders. Chiefs. Raiders. Chiefs.
The back-and-forth game would last all the way until the 4th quarter…or so we thought. After the Chiefs scored a touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion, the score was 29-26. The problem is that they left too much time on the clock and used their timeouts prematurely. That meant the Raiders could make sure they got the last possession in the fourth. And in this war, the Raiders marched down the field with authority. Getting inside the redzone with 3 timeouts left. But something the Raiders struggled with for the entire playoffs showed itself again. They would struggle to get seven and had to take three to send the game to overtime.
The Raiders would win the toss and decided to kick. Unlike the first four quarters, it felt like the Chiefs were in a rush for some reason. They would throw two contested deep balls. The first one was swatted down, but the second one was picked off almost guaranteeing a Raiders win. The Raiders would again march down the field in this war. And although they couldn’t get seven per usual, three was all they needed to win.
A beautiful game from both sides. Coach Lion and the Chiefs put up a real fight. Considering that many checked the Raiders to win that game, and they were that close says a lot about how he prepared his guys.
Nonetheless, the Raiders win and will play in the Super Bowl. Wow. Who saw that coming? Coach Isaiah will try to be the 2nd coach to win back-to-back Super Bowls. They will play the winner of the Eagles/Saints matchup.
