The Browns have been one of the most odd teams in recent years. Everyone would agree that they have the potential to be one of the top teams in the AFC, but every season they seem to get in their own way. And by their own way I mean they would turn the ball over in the worst times. Specifically, fumbles. So many games were lost by a fumble at the worst possible time. The Browns would move on from Malik Willis and get Dak Prescott. After getting Dak Prescott things did start to look better for the Browns, but they still would end up missing the playoffs.

But today starts a new season for the Browns. All the embarrassing moments of last season have passed away. And now, finally, the Browns can look forward to correcting all of their mistakes. They can finally show the league that they are here. That they are ready. And that they are one of the best teams in the league. Offensively, the Browns have never really struggled, ranking at the top of the league for the past three seasons. Whether Willis or Dak was at quarterback, the Browns always could move the ball. Anthony Schwartz is one of the biggest reasons why. Last season he would have almost 1500 yards with 15 touchdowns. And with the defense focused on stopping him, there was a rookie who took advantage. And that man was Chris Marshall. He would have about 1400 yards with 13 touchdowns and would take home the AFC OROTY.

It has been the defense that has been a big issue for the Browns. But as a great team should, they have worked to improve that. And honestly, they have brought in and developed the guys to improve their defense dramatically. Brian Burns. Tyleik Williams. Azzez Ojulari. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Denzel Ward. Benjamin Morrison. Wow! This defense has come a long way and I believe that they will rank top 10 in the league.

And if that is the case, the sky is the limit for this team. Great defense and limiting turnovers would make the Browns top 4 in the AFC in my opinion. But what if things don’t go right, again? Will the Browns decide to bench Dak and start Dante Moore, who they selected in the second round? Will they decide to get value with Anthony Schwartz? I know it is too early to ask these questions, but what if the Browns flop once again? We have been saying that they have “potential” for three years now. Can they finally reach that potential this season? And if they don’t, will the Browns move on from some of their players? And will they possibly move on from their Head Coach?
