It is no secret that the Browns have struggled in recent years. This season they have not gotten off to a hot start with a 3-5 record. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel for the Browns. They traded away Malik Willis and Nick Chubb. A trade that clearly indicates that the Browns are looking forward to what they can do in the upcoming years, even if that means getting rid of some pretty good talent.

The Browns offense has never really been a problem. They can score with the best of them. That is no exaggeration. They lead the league in passing yards as, whether you like their offensive playstyle or not, their offense does produce. So like I said their offense has never really been the problem. But a glaring problem for them has been their defense. For the past couple of seasons, the Browns’ defense has been horrendous. Last season, they gave up 30 points a game. In no world, will that lead to winning football. The Browns hope to grow into one of the top defensive teams in the league and have made moves to get there. Here are some of those moves:

They drafted defensive tackle Tyleik Williams with their late 1st-round pick in 2024. Williams looks to be a wrecking ball already in the league. He already has 4.50 sacks this season. One thing about building a great defense is being able to generate pressure. The browns have someone who can do that.

They drafted linebacker Danny Stutsman as their 5th-round pick in 2024. So far Stutsman looks like a steal. Although his stats are not eye-popping, he has been a huge player for the Browns.

They also picked up an undrafted free agent last year in Lathan Ranson. What a name. Ranson has been a leader for this defense and is proof that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. So far on the season, he has two interceptions. He is not only a leader but also a great run-stopper.

This season they traded for Azeez Ojulari and Jaquan Brisker to bolt down young talent on defense for years to come. Brisker is coming from the Bears. If he can perform like he did two seasons ago, we may be talking about this trade down the road. Oljulari comes from the Giants. He knows the game very well and is a vocal leader who can help the Browns get an edge over opponents’ offense.

Finally, they traded three 1st-round picks and a 2nd-round pick for Ben Morrison, who looks to be the last jewel in a defense that needs to become Thanos. The 20-year-old cornerback, Ben Morrison, out of Notre Dame has claimed he will be the best cornerback in the league

In their debut game, they played pretty well against another explosive offense in the Broncos. It was only their first time playing together. Give them time and I think that they can at least be a top-15 defense if not better. With a great offense and improved defense, the Browns will be right back into contention. Wait when was the last time they were in contention? For the first time since the beginning of the world, the Browns will be right back into contention. All jokes aside, the future is bright in Cleveland.
