Looks like the Panthers are enforcing a strict no fly zone over the Bank of America Stadium this year. The Panthers selected two corners to pair with their veterans in this year’s draft, bolstering what was already shaping up to be a formidable secondary. The first new addition was Kamari Lassiter, the 6’0 180 pound Georgia DB fell to the Panthers in the second round after many teams elected to focus on offensive players in the first round. Lassiter is a versatile corner who can play his role in any coverage and is a capable and willing tackler making him an option for run support. The second Defensive back taken by the Panthers was Josh Newton from TCU who comes in at 6’0 190 lbs. Newton shares a similar skill set to Lassiter and both will be looking to get valuable play time while still having the luxury of learning behind CB1 Jaycee Horn. With a CB room this talented, the Panthers will be looking to put the clamps on opposing receivers all year and keep opposing offenses on the ground. It should be fun to watch and plenty of “seatbelt celebrations” to go around.
