Wow! Who saw that coming? I have a confession. Out of all the primetime games this week, I did not think that the Chiefs vs Chargers game would have been the best one. Under their new head coach, the Chargers were 0-2. Granted they played the Colts and the Eagles. Both those teams are playoff teams right now in their respective conferences. But it did not look like much was going to change in Los Angeles, as the Chargers looked to have another embarrassing season. Let’s be honest here, the last great thing they had done was get an upset victory over the Colts in the first round two seasons ago. You remember, the “#playoffbracketcrusher” game? Since then, it has been terrible for the Chargers. So much so that their old head coach stepped down after another embarrassing performance.

When would this nightmare end for the Chargers? Who could save them? Yes, the new head coach is the brother of the Jets Head Coach, but we were yet to see anything that said he could lead a team. Yes, the Chargers Head Coach has experience coaching in other places, but as we know this is the big leagues and things are dramatically different. And yes, it will be a tough process for any head coach to walk into a new team midseason. But no, that did not stop him.

The Chargers would win their first game under their new head coach over the Raiders in dominant fashion. They won 52-12 in a game that clearly was all Chargers. Video coverage of the locker room showed the players giving their new head coach the game ball. They truly looked excited like they knew something we didn’t. Coming into this week’s game, no one picked the Chargers to win. And if we are being honest, no one thought this one would be close. But man, this was a hell of a game.

The Chargers put up a great fight against a top team in the league. At some points in the game, it looked like they would pull out the win. We had a tied-ball game going into overtime. Well, we should have. Unfortunately, a terrible interception was thrown by Herbert that put the Chiefs into field goal position. The Chiefs would make the field goal and sneak out the win.

Nonetheless, the Chargers have my attention. They may not have enough to win it this year, but under new ownership, the sky is the limit!
