After a great 28-3 victory over the Jaguars, the Colts now sit at 3-2. To say that this Colts season has been up and down is an understatement. Arch Manning struggled early, but it is looking like he is starting to find a rhythm. And hopefully so as the Colts have a very tough schedule to end the season.

Coach Isaiah has continued to express his belief in this young squad. He believes that this team has some true talent. Jamie Custis, the rookie running back selected 30th in the 6th Round, is already turning heads. Shon Duvall, the rookie wide receiver, is starting to show his elite potential, getting two amazing touchdown catches against the Jaguars. Oronde Gadsden II, who sat out his rookie year with the team, has been impressive in these two years. And he is only 23. Last year’s DROTY, Melvin Verner was named team captain and is doing a great job leading this defense. Johnny Posey has 3.5 sacks on the year. Louis Flanagan is making his case for DROTY. And the secondary is looking good as well: Deion Jenkins (who the Colts got in the Garrett trade), Eric Guyton (who the Colts got in the Taylor trade), and Tyrique Stevenson (who the Colts got two weeks ago in a trade with the Jags) are allowing the Colts to play more diverse coverages and blitzes. With Duce Chestnut and Julius Brents at safety, the Colts’ defense looks better than before.

But even with some players standing out, the Colts just don’t look like true contenders. They have had some ugly wins. Like their 16-14 win over the struggling Commanders. They should have lost that game 100%. They have had some ugly losses as well. Manning would cost the team in both losses, making a predetermined read against the Bengals and Eagles to seal the game. And I love what Coach Isaiah has done to put this franchise where it is at, but he has made some horrible coaching decisions this season. So when we are looking at their final 12 games, they are facing some true talent. To finish the year they play the Texans, Steelers, Ravens, Broncos, Patriots, Cowboys, Giants, Titans 2x, Packers, Jags, and Browns. Considering they are already at 3-2, I just don’t see them making the playoffs.

But who knows? This is an Any Given Sunday type of league. One thing is for sure, it will not be easy. After their bye next week, we will see how good the Colts truly are.
