Nothing. And I mean nothing is better than a heated rivalry. Sitting back and watching two teams walk out with the intention of all-out embarrassing the other opponent is what I pay to see. And last night, we got just that.
The Giants started off the season hot. From the beginning, I admit, it did look like the NFC East was the Giants for the taking. So, I don’t blame the Giants for boldly claiming they were the King of the NFC East. Actually, I agree with them. The only problem is that it doesn’t matter what I believe. Heck, it doesn’t even matter what they believe. The only thing that matters is what happens on the field. And last night, the self-proclaimed “kings of the NFC East” were embarrassed. The Cowboys’ defense had no mercy on Daniel Jones and the Giants’ offense, forcing two interceptions and 4 sacks. The Cowboys served the Giants a good ol’ Texas Chocolate Covered Donut and sent them back home. Not only did they serve them with a donut, they made them eat their own words. A 17-0 shutout victory is very impressive for a team that clearly hasn’t given up on the season and will fight to the very end. Tony Pollard led the takeover with 117 yards on 10 attempts! Yes, you read that correctly! Tony Pollard averaged 11.7 yards a carry!
At the end of the day though, the Giants still hold a two-game lead in the division. If they can humble themselves, use this as a lesson, and get back to who they were before, I don’t see why they still won’t be division champs. However, if they continue to decline, I’m positive that them boyz in Texas will take advantage of it. Stay tuned to this division because it just got real.
