After the trade between the Bears and the Cowboys last season, it was clear that the Cowboys were in rebuild mode. They got a buttload of picks for Micah Parsons, and time would tell if it was worth it. And under their new ownership, the Cowboys have done a phenomenal job getting assets. This draft was no different as the Cowboys probably had the best draft of all teams. Today though, we will focus on what they got to boost their defensive line.

The Cowboys selected Bear Alexander from USC with their 6th Pick in the 2025 draft. There is no question he was the best defensive lineman in the draft. His stats so far are not eye-popping, but watch the film and you will see the pressure he puts on the offensive line. Of course, he is a rookie, and under the Cowboys head coach, I believe he will be a superstar in this league.

With their 10th pick in the 2025 draft, the Cowboys selected Mykel Williams from Georgia. And man, this guy is already making his presence known. Last week against the Seahawks he sacked Caleb Williams 3 times. 3 times! He also forced a fumble. There is nothing better than seeing a rookie doing the things he is doing so early in the season.

And to make this defensive line even better, the Cowboys also received Dextor Lawrence in a trade with the Colts in the offseason. Now if you know anything about Dexter Lawrence, you would know that he is a headache by himself. Let alone, with two rookies who can get pressure themselves. The Cowboys’ defense looks legit. Remember they still have Trevon Diggs and Asante Samuel. And this defense was a huge reason they pulled out the victory against the Seahawks. The offense did not play so well, but leaning on the run game and defense helped them win 31-14.

They know there is still a lot of work to do in Dallas. But there is so much light at the end of the tunnel for this team. And honestly, it might not even take long for them to reach contention. In an NFC East that does not have a definite favorite to win it, the Cowboys may be the team to make it out. But even if they don’t have such a great season, they have a ton of picks. And as we have seen, they are great when it comes to scouting talent. So basically, either way, the Cowboys are doing a perfect job when it comes to a rebuild.
