In week 8, the undefeated Cowboys took on the 4-3 49ers. One of the most talented rosters in the league, being just above .500 is a bit misleading, as they have the talent to compete with any team in the league. This showed, as the Cowboys were losing 14-0 at halftime. This is back to back weeks for the Cowboys being down early. This issue may boil down to coaching or execution, either way the issue needs to be addressed for the Cowboys to be able to achieve their goal of winning the Super Bowl.
However big such an issue may be, the Cowboys have still managed to pull out a victory in both games. Dak Prescott threw for 259 yards with 1 TD and 2 Ints nearly doubling his interception total this season, bringing the season total to 5. The key to the offense this season has been the run game, and the lack of the run game was a big reason for having only 17 points, with normally standout RB Tony Pollard only having 8 carries for 31 yards and a TD.
Star WR Ceedee Lamb did his usual, finishing with 5 receptions for 98 yards. Rumors around the Cowboys were that WR Brandin Cooks and Coach Ben Johnson were constantly in altercations and today proved these rumors true. Brandin Cooks played 0 snaps, and his replacement Michael Gallup finished his day with 6 catches for 76 yards, solidifying his role as the starter moving forward.
The defense is how the Cowboys managed to steal the win away, as after a mediocre start to the game, they switched on, allowing 0 points in the second half. Stephon Gilmore and Daron Bland each had 1 interception and Star Defensive Ends Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence both had 2 sacks with all 4 sacks coming in the second half.
