The Falcons are not the best team in the league. Let’s be honest, not even close. Or are they close? For two weeks in a row, the Falcons were a few possessions away from beating top teams. Only losing 34-42 to the undefeated Steelers. And losing by one point to the Chiefs! Don’t look now, but the Falcons are on the rise!
I did not expect this at all. Many expected the Falcons to take a quarterback in the draft, as that was a clear weakness on the team. However, the Falcons traded that pick to the Cowboys for Trey Lance. And although he still makes some mistakes, he is still a huge upgrade from Desmond Ridder. He has 1810 yards with 19 touchdowns. The Falcons also have Scotty “Too Hotty” Miller and Kyle Pitts. And don’t forget about the run game. Bijan Robinson has 498 yards and 4 touchdowns on the season so far. The Falcons still need to clean up their defense, but their offense has proven to be up there with the best.
This is why I love football. Seeing teams rise. Seeing teams figure it out as the years go on. Seeing teams become serious threats. The Falcons embody what Any Given Sunday is all about. They are no longer a guaranteed win for opponents any longer. Here they come!
