The Giants may be the biggest wildcard in the NFL. At their best, I truly believe this team can win the NFC. But at their worst, I tend to scratch my head in disbelief. Take this week against the Rams for example. Up 14-0 against the Rams, the team that won the NFC, the Giants looked like a true threat. Unfortunately, the Giants would sell. They would lose their lead and get blown out. Cam Ward, who has been top-5 in passing since he entered the league, threw seven interceptions!
And even though I believe this team has some great potential, I just can’t help but look at their history. Take season 3 for example. The Giants would start the season very strong. It looked like they would easily win their division and make the playoffs. But after a victory, Coach Ace would say some words that would haunt his team for the rest of the season. He said, “The Giants own the NFC East”. And after he said those words, the Giants would lose out and miss the playoffs. They only had to win one game to clinch, but could not.
Season 4 the Giants would make the playoffs. The Giants would decide to start Cam Ward, a rookie at the time, over Daniel Jones. And it was a great decision as both Ward and Hyatt would start to put up numbers. Hyatt would even take the NFC OPOTY. But in the playoffs, the Giants would fail to complete their comeback against the Cardinals in the Wildcard Round.
And last season was a disaster. I still think that last year was a fluke, but history tells us that the Giants continue to fall short. But for some reason, I can’t help but believe in this team. Jalin Hyatt is having another OPOTY-type season and other than the last game, Cam Ward has been playing great football. They also have a great pass defense. So what’s my prediction for this team? I can’t make one. As stated above, they are the biggest wildcard in the league. I will say that if the Giants can stop hindering themselves they will be the #PlayoffBracketCrusher of Season 6.
