Even after sneaking into the playoffs and making it to the Divisional Round, The Jaguars shocked the world by announcing that Doug Pederson would no longer be the Head Coach. Pederson will stay with the team and work as the Offensive Coordinator, something he is familiar with as he was the Offensive Coordinator with the Chiefs before being a Head Coach with the Eagles.
The Jaguars have hired McDots-MMM as their new Head Coach in hopes that he can help max out the Jags’ potential. McDots-MMM has said that his focus with this team is building them the right way. He said, “It’s a process. I know that it won’t be easy, but I’m here for the long haul. You know that’s the plan: Building a dynasty. Whether we are winning or losing, we will play hard. But if I’m being honest with you, I don’t see why we can’t win. We have some hungry guys. We’re all adults here. We all have families to feed. So whether you know the guys on this team right now, you will know about them very soon. Jacksonville, Let’s Go!”
The Jaguars do have a franchise quarterback already in Trevor Lawrence. The problem is his weapons. The Jaguars will have to find some wide receivers as Calvin Ridley will be going into free agency this offseason. And speaking of free agency, the Jaguars also decided to let Josh Allen walk. I guess this is what McDots-MMM meant when he said building the right way. If the Jaguars cannot compete right now, there is no reason why they should be paying max dollars. This decision could prove beneficial for the Jaguars in a couple of seasons when they have the type of money that other teams don’t.
Defensively, the Jaguars Head Coach has said that he plans on building a roster that will be one of the best defensive teams in the league. McDots-MMM has claimed that he loves defense and that defense wins championships. He said, “I’ve always been fascinated with the defensive aspect of the game. Nothing like only allowing 6 points an entire game. That just shows the heart and dedication to film and practice. And I plan on having a group of guys that love to play hard on defense every possession.”
This will be interesting to see where the Jaguars go from here. What will they do in free agency? Who will they pick in the draft? How long will this “rebuild” go on for? So many questions, yet Jaguars fans are excited for the future. Jags fans were seen welcoming McDots-MMM as he made his way to the office for the first time since being hired as Head Coach. Go Jags!
