The Jets are back and better!
Last year, the Jets started the season super hot. Going 8-0 until they lost to the Bills. The Jets depended on their explosive offense to win their games, which ranked 7th. But there was a glaring issue in their defense which was the 13th-worst defense. I said time and time again that the Jets would fail to make that next big step until they fixed their defense. And after two losses this season, the Jets made the call. Rumors spread that the Jets Head Coach hit one of the best defensive minds. I’m not sure if this is true, but since then, even though more work is needed, the Jets’ defense has massively improved. And that is one reason they are back to their winning ways. From the 13th-worst defense, they are now the 13th-best defense.
But like I said, that is only one reason that the Jets are back to their winning ways. Another reason is their run game. I talked to the Jets’ Head Coach and he told me that to improve his team, he was focused on two things: Defense and running the football. And the run game has been great for the Jets. Even in a game where Rodgers threw 3 picks, Breece Hall carried the offense with 177 yards and two touchdowns. With a running game, the Jets are even more of a headache for defenses to stop.
But even with a good defense and a good running game, there is still a problem in New York. Their quarterback position. Rodgers is washed. I said it. He is completely washed. Will the Jets make the call to sit Rodgers and start their rookie quarterback, Michael Penix Jr? His stats so far may not be eye-popping, but the offense is clearly better. With a threat to both pass and run, he makes the offense better. But obviously, he is a rookie, and the Jets are trying to win now. But to win a Super Bowl, you will have to make bold decisions, and I believe if the Jets make that move, they have a better chance to be in the Super Bowl come February. Go Jets!
