“When your mind says give up, hope whispers one more try”

A great start to the season for the Jets ended in the worst possible way. A blowout loss at home to the Titans. 40-20. Coming off of two injuries in the season, Aaron Rodgers was not the man we have become so used to seeing. Just a few months ago, Rodgers to New York was the talk of the town. He was expected to lift the Jets to the Super Bowl. But so far, all he has done is battle injuries and watch from the sideline with a tablet in his hands. In a game that looked like it could very well be his last, the Jets were left with more questions than answers. What was next? Was it over for Rodger? Is Wilson the franchise Quarterback of the future? Will the Jets still be Super Bowl contenders next season?

And if the end of the season didn’t make you question the Jets’ quarterback situation, draft night did. In the first round, the Jets selected Michael Penix Jr, from Washington, with the 16th overall pick. Now it is clear that the Jets don’t believe in Wilson like they have previously stated and Penix Jr. will be their quarterback when Rodgers retires. But when will Rodgers retire?

I did get to speak to Rodgers privately. He told me that he still has some left in the tank. When asked how much, he told me “Watch and find out.”, with a smirk on his face. The Jets had one of, if not, the best offense in the league. Will they be able to keep that same firepower with an aging Rodgers?

Offense has never been an issue. It has been the defense. If the Jets want to take the next step, they must improve on defense. We will get to see how much they improved this week when they go against the Jaguars. I have always believed in this team and I won’t stop now. But the truth is time is ticking. I don’t know how much they have. But I do know they have now and they must make the most of it.
