In Ben Johnson’s debut as HC, he helped lead the Cowboys to a shootout victory, 42-32, over fierce division rival the Eagles. Ben Johnson is well-known around the NFL world for his offensive mind, and that showed, as the Cowboys put up 6 offensive TDs. However, the normally lockdown defense was non-existent. Was this a result of the HC’s focus on offense or just a one-off? Time will tell.
Potential MVP candidate Dak Prescott started off the campaign with a perfect passer rating, throwing for 329 yards, 4 TDs with no picks on 20 attempts. Star WR CeeDee Lamb produced as normal with 4 recs, 160 yards, and a TD. Jalen McMillan starred in his debut, with 4 recs, 73 yards, and two TDs. WR Brandin Cooks also had a day, with 6 recs, 51 yards, and a TD.
While the defense was a bit of a no-show, Osa Odighizuwa and Micah Parsons each finished with 1 sack. Donovan Wilson, who struggled all day in coverage, redeemed himself with a game-sealing interception at the start of the 4th quarter.
