The Panthers have lost 4 of their last 5 games which include their current 3 game losing skid after a loss last night to the Commanders 27-24. The Panthers were just in the Super Bowl last season, and they started the season as expected. However, they have not looked like the same team recently, and it is really costing them. They will have to win out the rest of their games just to make the playoffs. A team who just made the Superbowl is fighting for a wildcard spot. Wow.
Bryce Young was having an MVP season, especially with the arrival of DK Metcalf. It looked like the Panthers were surely going to at least make the Super Bowl again with Bryce getting a true #1 wide receiver. However, Bryce Young has not been the same quarterback. Before the skid, Bryce Young had a 21-4 touchdown interception ratio. Tracing back to when this turned upside down, he has a 9-6 ratio. He has made some poor reads. Some that only a rookie quarterback would make. I guess we are seeing that sophomore slump or maybe there is something going on in the locker room that is not being brought up. I say that because it’s not just Bryce that is not performing to standard. No offense to Sam Howell. He has done a great job with the Commanders, but he was destroying the Panthers’ defense. This is not the same Panthers defense. Again, I don’t know what is going on with them. A bigger problem is that the Panthers aren’t even leading their division. The Saints are. That means that they will be in a race for a wildcard spot. And although the NFC doesn’t look that strong, there are some teams who have surprisingly made some noise this year. Next week is critical as they go up against the Saints, who have already beaten them. I believe in this team, but I’m not on the field. I’m not in the locker room. I’m not at the practices. It is up to the Panther’s Head Coach to figure out what the problem is and address it immediately. Otherwise, we may be looking at one of the worst seasons following making a Super Bowl.
