There are some interesting reports coming out of Patriots training camp on the offensive side of the ball. Many thought they had a weak draft class after Travis Hunter as they had the 17th best draft grade. But they may have found a couple steals.

Certainly, trading away their 2nd and 3rd round picks for Christian Kirk looks like a bad deal after they finished with the 2nd worst record. Fighting for scraps in the late rounds, the Patriots selected WR Clyde Davis from Penn. St in the 3rd round and TE Matt Sawyer from Texas Tech in the 5th round.

Rumors are that Sawyer has won the job after the team cut Hunter Henry. He’s raw, but has good size and speed. The Patriots just need to teach him how to play football.

Even more impressively, Clyde Davis has won the teams WR3 job. To beat out a veteran like Parris Campbell shows he’s already playing at a high level, especially after the season Campbell had racking up almost 1000 yards.

The Patriots receiving core still looks weak, but don’t be surprised if these rookies break out. They may even be good sleepers for your fantasy leagues.
