The league is starting to have a glaring problem and some coaches/teams are about to pay the price. Teams are “Stat Padding” and the commissioner is getting fed up with it. “ This is completely unacceptable and will not continue. Offense is scoring way too much points”. This topic was bubbling on the surface but finally hit a boil when the Arizona Coach called out Jacksonville’s coach for blatantly raising the score and running for a TD with the game in hand and not taking a knee. Different owners are calling for different things, but one thing is for sure, everybody wants something done by the league.
“You can look at the League Leaders and tell right off the back who is doing it, it’s not a secret. Some people are award chasing and should be punished” anonymous coach.
“All these coaches and players should be punished to the extreme there is no place in the league or the game for this crap” former coach
Some of the example punishments being thrown by executives are.
1) 4 game suspensions for the player or 2 forces loses.
2) A Dev down and locked at the dev down for a season for the player involved
3) Injury rating cut in half for the player as long as the current coach has the player.
4) A forced release of the player
5) 3 strikes rule and the the coach is banned from the league
These are just examples but as you can see, the league is not messing around with this.
Even after a strict warning by the commissioner who wrote openly said “He will be looking into a certain state starting out”, the New York Jets decided to test the commissioner stance on this.
People were outraged at the Jets stat line and the poor sportsmanship. While up 42-17 Breece Hall who was well over 200 yards stayed in the game and kept running the ball. If that wasn’t crazy enough the Jets ran a trick play and scored a touchdown further raising the score on Carolina.
This was all with under 2 mins left in the 4th with the game in hand. Some are wondering why Hall was still in the game and why the Jets backup didn’t get ANY carries the whole game.
The league will be watching what the commissioner decides to do
