What a game! What a game!
The Titans (1-0) traveled to Indianapolis to face their division rival Colts (0-1). The Titans swept the Colts last year in their season series, and they have only gotten better. The Colts, however, have been on a slippery slope. Since the end of last year, they have lost what made them. Their defense had not been the top-5 defense we are used to and Jonathan Taylor, being the focus of opponents, was not the same running back. Many predicted the Colts to lose this game for the simple fact that the Titans are one of the best teams in the AFC, while the Colts are too inconsistent.
From the start of the game, the Titans’ defense showed why they were the best defensive team in the league, picking off AR5 in the first possession of the game. Just like that, the game was in the Titans’ hands. Until it was in Kenny Moore’s hand, as he picked off Levis for the touchdown. 7-0 Colts. But the Titans answered quickly, with a drive that led to a Spears rushing touchdown. 7-7. Believe it or not, it stayed like that for a while as both teams gave a lesson on lockdown defense. The Titans had no answer for the Colts’ defense and the Colts had no answer for the Titans’ defense. This led to a 7-7 halftime score with the Titans getting the ball to start the half. But again, the defense was huge for both teams, as Baker Jr, an undrafted free agent picked off Levis. And finally, Jonathan Taylor got it going with a great rushing touchdown. 14-7 Colts. On the next drive, on the first play, Levis was picked off by Julian Blackmond, who resigned in the offseason. From there, the Taylor show continued as he ran for another rushing touchdown. 21-7. From there the game was a wrap. Justin Simmons, a newly acquired Colt, sealed the deal with an interception in the endzone.
A great game worthy of Primetime. Both teams now sit at 1-1, with the Colts taking the divisional lead.
