Blockbuster trade breakdown from Eagles point of view
Saquon Barkley appeared to be frustrated about not getting enough carries in a pass dominant Eagles offense, but even after Eagles offense switched strategies, it appeared Barkley would still be sharing snaps with Will Shipley. Barkley showed his frustration during a game when pulled out during the Vikings game, and shortly after the game, Barkley’s agent requested a trade for Barkley. Barkley had a list of teams and it was apparent he wanted to be traded to a contending team, heavy rushing team, and a big market team. A opportunity arose when Coach Isaiah showed interest. Both sides quickly agreed on a deal league was able to approve the trade.
With Barkley’s absence, the Eagles now have a gapping hole in their offense, the running back position, but it appears the Eagles will reunite the Clemson Boys in the backfield. Two headed monster Clemson RBs Will Shipley and Phil Mafa. Eagles front office stated both RBs will share the backfield but Will Shipley will get the majority of the snaps.
As for the Commanders game, Raiders front office requested all players involved in the trade be benched to prevent injuries, and Eagles agreed, therefore Eagles will start RB Will Shipley and DE Jack Sawyer.
Rumor Mill has it trade talks have also sparked about DE Hasson Reddick, but nothing has been confirmed.
