The Chicago Bears have traded their first-round pick (from the Panthers) to the Rams for Cam Akers. It is important to note that the Bears keep their own pick, but are trading the pick they received from the Panthers last year in the draft when they selected Bryce Young #1 overall.

The Bears get another running back to pair with Khalil Herbert. The Bears hope to quickly resign Akers, who is on an expiring contract. Cam Akers is a great running back but has not got the attention due to the Rams’ struggling season. The Bears hope that this can put some pressure off of Fields while also helping them improve on offense.

For the Rams, this is a clear sign of a short rebuild. This rebuild may only last until the draft, but nonetheless, the Rams are open to negotiations. They have no intention to trade Aaron Donald, who is 32. This makes me think that as quickly as the Rams are letting guys go, they are hoping they can bring guys in to contend just as fast. Aaron Donald is almost past his prime, so time is ticking for the Rams. The Rams are a few pieces away, and they may find that piece in the first round of the draft.
