Wow. In the last week of trades, it was like Black Friday. We have some win-now moves and some moves that ensure that a team’s future is secure. In the upcoming articles, we will be discussing those trades.

We are starting with the trade between the Chargers and the 49ers. The Chargers sent both their 1st and 2nd round picks this year for Christian McCaffrey. For the Chargers, who after their win this week, are 4-4-1, this move indicates they are not finished yet, and believe that this move right here puts them right back into contention. Last season, in the playoffs, the Chargers shocked everyone but themselves. But so far this season, they have been way too inconsistent. In a tough division, every game matters. And bringing in a guy like McCaffrey, who not only makes an impact on the field but is also a great locker room guy, is huge for them. He has already made his presence felt by helping the Chargers beat the Ravens 35-30 this week. And what makes him so great is that he can catch the ball too. The Chargers will have to play almost perfectly for the rest of the season to make the playoffs in the tough AFC. I believe a move like this will help them achieve their goal.

For the 49ers, this move may surprise some. But context is needed. Brock Purdy has been on a tear this season. He leads the league in passing yards with 2888 and has 24 touchdowns. Although it may sound crazy, they will not miss a beat without McCaffrey. Brock Purdy just put up 255 yards and 3 touchdowns this week in a blowout win against the Bills. They will be more than fine. Plus they have Elijah Mitchell, who just went for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Bills. So if you are a 49ers fan, you should be happy with this trade. You move on from a guy you didn’t really need and you get two great picks this year.
