Although he was suspended one game, it does not take away from what we just saw last night in Detroit. Years ago, the Vikings thought that they found their franchise quarterback in Kirk Cousins, signing him to a massive deal. The Vikings had a great defense and thought that bringing an established quarterback would help them reach the ultimate goal. However, things have not turned out the way they expected and poor quarterback play has been the story of their franchise in recent years. We have seen this team go from one head coach to another as the Vikings have had losing season after losing season.
However, they may have not only found the head coach but also a franchise quarterback. With the 5th pick in this year’s draft, the Vikings selected Jalen Milroe from Alabama. And man, what a great pickup. In his first game, he threw 449 yards with 6 touchdowns. And the best part- no interceptions. Along with that, he showed he can use his legs by rushing for a touchdown.
The NFC North is wide open with the Packers and Lions’ old head coaches stepping down. They will need time to answer some key questions on their teams. But it looks like the Vikings have already answered an important one. The question being, who is their franchise quarterback? And the answer being: Jalen Milroe.
